Apply for an opportunity to attend in-person regional best practices training on supervision of peer advocates and specialists!

This one-day learning intensive workshop is designed to provide supervisors with the knowledge and skills to enhance their capacity to support peer advocates/specialists in providing effective services that best meet the needs of the people they serve and in alignment with peer support principles. The benefits of effective supervision include improved quality of care, a more engaged workforce, improved productivity, a more effective team, and reductions in costly turnover.

This workshop will provide supervisors with practical and concrete approaches to support their peer advocate/specialist supervisees by:

Knowledge and skill development: Participants will enhance their knowledge of peer support practice models and scope of work to foster supervisory skills and best practices, including fostering cultural competence and ethical practice.

Skill application and practice: Participants will actively engage in lessons and activities that will enhance growth and knowledge in providing supervision to peer advocates/specialists and receive feedback and coaching.

Relationship building and team development: Participants will collaboratively and effectively identify best practices to support building strong supervisor-to-peer relationships.

 

Registration is required and space is limited. Applicants should be current supervisors of Youth Peer Advocates, Family Peer Advocates, and/or Adult Peer Specialists working at NYS OMH licensed mental health programs. Soon to be supervisors of peer advocates/specialists are also welcome to apply. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. Please submit your application as soon as possible and no later than January 2, 2025 to determine eligibility. All applications will be reviewed and you will be notified about your participation by January 8, 2025.

This in-person learning intensive training will be held regionally.

Training on each day is from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
